Category BE
Services for students who want to get a driving license category BE for a passenger car or a load vehicle with total mass up to 3500 kg which tows a trailer (tourist or load one) with total mass up to 3500 kg.
It is allowed the trailer to be heavier than the towing motor vehicle.
The total mass of the composition mustn't exceed 7000 kg.
Requirements to register for the course:
To be a Bulgarian citizen or resident.
To have a Bulgarian driving license or a driving license issued by another European country, which has category B.
A medical clearance for category BE
The driving course doesn't have any theoretical classes and exams.
There are 12 mandatory driving classes divided between exercises in the training area and driving of the composition in city conditions.
The driving exam contains two parts:
The first one is to prove that you can do the elements at the training area: reversing with the trailer and parking by reversing.
If you succeed in the first part, you have to drive in city conditions.
Documents to apply for the driving license in the traffic police office:
The Bulgarian ID/ resident permit and a copy
The current driving license and a copy
The medical clearance for category ВE
Important:
If you are a holder of a European driving license which is not Bulgarian one, you are allowed to register for category BE course using it.
You have to submit your documents to add BE in your driving license in the Bulgarian traffic police office.
At the end your driving license will be Bulgarian, containing the categories you had plus BE.

It includes 38 classes: 4 mandatory in-person Saturday sessions (9 a.m.–1 p.m.) and the rest via an online platform.
How long is the theoretical part valid before it expires?
Theory classes expire 6 months after completion. You must pass your theory exam within this period.
How many driving classes are required for a beginner?
Beginners must complete 31 practical driving classes, each lasting 50 minutes.
How many attempts am I allowed for the exams?
You have a maximum of 4 attempts for the theory exam and 4 attempts for the driving exam.
What educational documents are needed for a driving license?
You must submit proof of education for:
- minimum (8th grade) if you have completed it before the 26th of September, 2017.
- minimum 10th grade if you have completed it after the 26th of September, 2017.
